Intraocular lenses
Correction of dioptric defects by implanting an artificial intraocular lens
An artificial intraocular lens can be implanted into the eye with high dioptric defects (above minus 12 and plus 8 dioptres). This operation has several variants:
- An artificial lens is implanted into the so called anterior chamber
of the eye (i.e. in front of the pupil and between the iris and cornea)
Advantages: fast recovery of visual functions, dioptric stability
Disadvantages: frequently increase of intraocular pressure, potential occurrence of cataract, cornea cloudiness, the eye may not be pressed or rubbed
- Implantation of intraocular lens behind the pupil (i.e.
between the iris and the human lens proper)
Advantages: fast recovery of visual functions, dioptric stability
Disadvantages: high price, still not very long experience, increase of intraocular pressure, high risk of cataract and consequently the need of a further operation.
- RLE (substituting the human lens by and artificial one)
Advantages: convalescence only 3 days, high precision and stability of the resultant condition
Disadvantages: possible risks in conjunction with the intraocular operation, presence of a foreign object in the eye
An artificial monofocal lens can be used (spectacles are required for reading after operation) or multifocal (patient is entirely without spectacles).
This ocular microsurgery region is undergoing a spontaneous development. Currently, a very perspective one appears to be the so called the pseudo-accommodation lenses of the AcrySof ReSTOR type and MA60D3 model, which we offer too. The so called yellow alternative in under development nowadays (similar to the monofocal intraocular lens of the AcrySof Natural type).
However, this type of intraocular lenses is not suitable for all patients and there can be problems either. A certain disadvantage is that the patient must accommodate for up to some months after operation to multifocal perception of the image. We will readily recommend suitability of implanting this lens, subject to results of pre-operation examination.

As our philosophy, reliability, credibility and awareness of personal responsibility are to be taken into account.
