Doc. M.D. Zdeněk Smečka
Ph.D., who introduced laser corrections of the refractive disorders in 1991 as
the first in Middle Europe, leads the team of ten workers of the
clinic. He is a pioneer of the most up-to-date surgical procedures in the field
of the ophthalmologic refractive surgery.

Holder of a Silver Medal of the Palacky University. Investigator of a department research task „Diabetic Ophthalmopathy“ and a state plan of the basic research of the „Ophthalmologic complications of diabetes mellitus“.
Member of American Academy of Ophthalmology (as a first Czech ophthalmologist), delegate of the Excimer Laser European Ophthalmic Society for the Czech republic, member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, member of the International Society of Cosmetics Laser Surgeons, etc.
Author and a co-author of 48 publications in our country as well as abroad, co-author of 2 monographies, more than 120 lectures in our country and abroad.
Specialises in laser correction of refractory errors and has personally performed 25,000 of such corrections since 1991, which places him among the first ten top specialists in Europe, with additional specialisation in cataract microsurgery and over 17,000 cases treated.
Docent Smečka is a graduate of two universities, he has received two doctorates and three another academic titles.
He is a member of advisory board of InternetPoradna.cz.
He is actively doing sports, playing tennis and squash. As for his hobbies, visual arts and faleristics belong to them.
